TBI raids Millington government buildings, mayor's home

(WMC-TV) - Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents conducted raids Wednesday at numerous Millington city government buildings and a transmission shop.

Sources said investigators raided Millington's Public Works Department, Police Department, City Hall, a local business  - Transmission Doctor, and the home of Mayor Richard Hodges.

Agents spent all morning in Hodges' office.  They were serving search warrants, however, it was unclear what type of case the TBI was investigating.

Vince Higgins, spokesperson for the Office of the District Attorney General, said the warrants were part of an ongoing criminal investigation which began in December of 2010 in response to complaints of official misconduct in Millington.

Higgins declined to elaborate on what type of misconduct was involved or to say exactly who was being served with the warrants.

Elderly Millington man victim of home invasion, armed robbery

(WMC-TV) - An elderly man in Millington was the victim of a home invasion and armed robbery Friday night.

Shelby County Sheriff's investigators said three armed suspects wearing masks forced their way into a home in the 6000 block of Pleasant Ridge just before midnight.

They forced an 85-year-old victim to the ground and tied his hands while they stole a large amount of cash and the victim's truck.

Detectives are looking for a 2004 black GMC pickup truck with Tennessee tag 58DD818.

Memphis Burglary Arrests Drop in One Week

Memphis police have some good news to report when it comes to burglaries.

In just one week, burglaries of homes in the Raleigh Station precinct DROPPED 45% this week (July 11th) compared to last week (July 4th).

In that same week, business burglaries dropped 75%.

Officers also made nine arrests to solve eleven cases.

The IRS says scammers are targeting church congregations in the south. They’re promising big tax returns, but the con artists are the ones making off with all the money.

The crooks promise that if you pay them, they can get you a big check from the IRS. They say you'll get that money without providing any documents and it doesn't matter how little money you make.

But of course it doesn't work out as advertised.

Hot wing restaurant owner busted for selling drugs

(WMC-TV) - A Millington hot wings restaurant is closed after police said they were selling drugs out of the business.

Yellow tape surrounded the Wing Hut-N-Sum building Monday. Regulars of the restaurant said they were stunned to find a shutdown notice on the front door and lights off inside.

"No kind of red flags or nothing," said customer Linda Davenport. "It just blows my head."
