Blues by the lake

The annual blues concert will take place Saturday, June 22, at USA Stadium Freedom Lake. The event is hosted by radio personality Bev Johnson of WDIA.  Gates for the concert open at 1:00pm. You can purchase tickets to Blues by The Lake online here.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Millington High School Chorale and Mid-South Safe haven Arts for Kids (MASK).

Mirimichi to host PGA Junior Series

Mirimichi to host PGA Junior Series

Justin Timberlake's Mirimichi Golf Course is going to host the 2013 PGA Junior Series.

The series starts on May 29 and lasts until May 31st.

The golf course is in Millington.

Mirimichi won the top spot in Golfweek Magazine's "Top Golf Courses You Can Play" list.

It was also honored for its environentally conscious standards in 2011.

"Funerals of the Titanic" Presentation

If you are fascinated by the stories of the Titanic, a presentation titled, "Funerals of the Titanic" will be at the Bartlett Senior Center, 5727 Woodlawn Street, April 15, beginning at 10 a.m.

The presentation is made up of interesting stories of the passengers of the Titanic.

Permission granted to “KICK BUTTS”!

The Shelby County Health Department (SCHD), in collaboration with other local organizations, will encourage youth to take a stand against big tobacco companies and educate their peers about the importance of not smoking on Kick Butts Day, Wednesday, March 20.

Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism which empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against big tobacco companies. Health officials want to raise awareness of the tobacco problem, encourage youth to stay tobacco-free and urge strong action to protect kids from tobacco.

Representatives from the health department will be at the following locations on Wednesday, March 20, to distribute information and tips on smoking cessation:

1 p.m.

Millington Quilters Guild to host quilt show

The Millington Arts & Recreation presents the Millington Quilt Show on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24.

Join the event at the Baker Community Center as the Millington Quilters Guild displays their beautiful handmade quilts.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

This event is free to the public.
