ArtsMemphis and Ducks Unlimited will host Conservation Through Art (CTA) Family Day from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, at Shelby Farms Visitor Center.

The free event, sponsored by Baptist Memorial Health Care, will feature a variety of outdoor activities designed for the entire family, including fishing, conservation games, duck calling lessons and working dog demonstrations.

Organizations offering activity booths include the Metal Museum, the Orpheum Theatre, New Ballet Ensemble and School and Theatre Memphis. Whole Foods Market will provide an eco-friendly learning game and healthy snacks. Family Day also will include performances by Voices of the South, Watoto Memphis and Prizm Ensemble.

It's Toddler & Preschooler Storytime every Thursday at 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. at the branch located at 300 W. Church Ave.

Additionally, the library offers other fun activities including crafts, children's movies & more.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Coming To Brighton

A household hazardous waste collection event will be held at the Brighton High School parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 27. 

From 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. any Tennessee residents may drop off unwanted household chemicals, automotive materials, and lawn & garden products for proper disposal.

Collectors will also accept old cell phones & unused medicines.

However, alkaline batteries, explosives, radioactive or medical waste materials will not be accepted.

(WMC-TV) - It's always nice to do something you enjoy and help others at the same time. Here's an opportunity to do both this Saturday!

The "Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival" will be held this Saturday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at AutoZone Park (at the corner of Union Ave. and 3rd Street), and it benefits the Ronald McDonald House.

Participants will be able to enjoy a variety of ice creams, frozen treats, snacks, and drinks from several local vendors. There will be games and activities for kids, including face-painting and photos with costumed characters, as well as an Entertainment Stage featuring live entertainment and fun contests.  Additionally, there will be a silent auction.

Tickets are $7 in advance, and $10 at the door.

Here's your chance to make a difference while enjoying a night out on the town.

Gennifer Throneburg, a Memphis mother who is battling lupus and chronic kidney failure, decided to do something to help others who are also battling an invisible illness. Throneburg is hosting a charity event in downtown Memphis on September 26 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will be held at Club 152, on the third floor.

The event will feature a dinner provided by Carrabbas Italian Grill. Dinner will be followed by a  raffle and silent auction. Some of the items up for bid  during the auction include:

Humane society holds family reunion
(WMC-TV) - Everyone who has adopted a cat or dog from the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County is invited to bring their pets to a family reunion. The event is Saturday from 3-5 p.m. It's a chance for staff and volunteers to see former favorites and get updates from their families. There will be fun stuff for your pets to do as well as light refreshments.
