SHELBY COUNTY, TN- (WMC-TV) - The search resumed Monday morning for the man believed to have been swept into the Mississippi River while fishing Sunday.
Shelby County Sheriff's Office says Bone Leang, 37, was standing in the river about 100 yards north of the Shelby Forest boat ramp when the current swept him away. Two others reportedly jumped into the water in an effort to rescue him.
Emergency crews were called around 3 p.m. when Leang did not resurface. Crews from Millington, Shelby County, Memphis, and the Coast Guard all responded to the search.
"There's a lot of professionals out here right now doing everything we can to find this individual," said Brent Perkins, Shelby County Fire Department.
Due to a language barrier, rescue crews had trouble locating the area. Officials say Leang did not know how to swim.
