Millington Elementary finishes first at Relay for Life fundraiser

Millington Elementary finishes first at Relay for Life fundraiser

It was a thrilling Tuesday evening at the annual Relay for Life "Millington Celebrity Waiter Night" dinner and fundraiser held at the Harvell Community Center. Local businesses, schools, clubs, organizations, and community leaders sponsored and decorated tables. Sponsors went all out for this year's "Hollywood" theme.

The fundraiser was established to generate much-needed funds and support to help those suffering from the dreaded disease of cancer. I was invited by Millington Elementary School principal Ms. Stephanie Beach to serve as a waitress. To my delight, MES came out the big winner for their table decorations inspired by the movie Cast Away; and, for raising $800 in tips/donations. Over the course of the night's festivities I learned that Ms. Beach is actually a cancer survivor. What an awesome night!
