Chick-fil-A tests sweet potato fries

Chick-fil-A has launched a new product.

You can't buy it across the country, but it is available in the Mid-South - sweet potato fries!

The new waffle fries are being tested in the Memphis market.

They launched May 2, and are sold in addition to the traditional waffle french fries.

Look for them at area stores in the near future.

3030 Poplar Ave. The collection catalogs the photographer’s travels in Europe and Asia. Among the treasures are photos of local haunts such as King Cotton, Burkle's Bakery, Stroh Brewery, and notably Graceland at the time of Elvis’ death.

Doctors bike across country for Haiti

Doctors bike across country for Haiti

Three doctors bicycling across the country for Haiti relief will make a stop in the Mid-South.

Haiti is still recovering from an earthquake that struck over a year ago. On May 1, the Memphis Redbirds will have a “Bisiklet for Haiti” game to help the doctors reach their fundraising goal of $30,000. The trio will throw out the first pitch when the Redbirds take on the Round Rock Express at 1:35 p.m. at AutoZone Park. A portion of all ticket sales that day will go to Bisiklet for Haiti and Cloud Forest Medical Clinic in Seguin, Haiti.

Time running out to apply for law internship

The clock is ticking to apply for the Summer Law Intern Program. The purpose of the program is to expose minority high school students to the “real world” practice of law and to encourage them to consider law as a career.

The students will work at least 15 hours a week during a four-week period, June 13- July 18, 2011, and will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the program.

Good deals abound at Highland Clothing Sale

If you are looking for a great deal on spring clothes, skip the mall and head straight to the Highland Clothing Sale.

This year's spring sale offers hundreds of gently used dresses, dress pants, spring sweaters, pjs and play clothes. If a child wears it, you will find it at this sale. The best news is cosignors discount their items from 1/3 to 1/4 of what they paid for them. This year's sale includes items from Gymboree, Gap, Ralph Lauren, Children's Place and hundreds of other name brand stores. You can also find loads of baby furniture, bedding and even toys.

The sale is located at the Highand Church of Christ at 400 Houston Levee Rd. in Cordova. Friday shopping begins at 9 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m. Saturday is half-price day. Shopping begins at 9 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. Organizers take cash, checks and credit cards.

Snow days or no snow days

Shelby County school students may not have to make up all the snow days we had earlier this year.

Shelby County School Superintendent John Aitken said he does not want students to make up snow days this year.

It's now up to the Shelby County School Board to vote on the superintendent's reommendation. 

So far this school year, county students have missed 4 days due to snow.

Last year, the board voted for students to not make up the snow days.
