' Dirty Girl Mud Run' supports National Breast Cancer Foundation

Are you ready to get dirty? Then get ready for the Dirty Girl Mud Run coming to the Mid-South on Saturday, March 16.

The Dirty Girl Mud Run is a 5K mud run for women of all ages and athletic abilities. The run is filled with an untimed obstacle course. A portion of proceeds raised for the run will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The contest is the original women-only national mud run and will be held at Shelby Farms.

Event organizers’ say the challenges will give women a chance to break from their routine for a day, get out of their comfort zones, get dirty, and accomplish something all while having fun.

You don’t have to participate in all the obstacles. Organizers encourage forming teams with crazy uniforms.

The Dirty Girl Mud Run will also include music, food and drinks.

Free golf for veterans

Veterans in the Mid-South can play a free round of golf!

Green fees at Edmund Orgill Golf Course will again be waived this year for current and former Veterans in observance of Veterans Day.

Veterans with a military identification card won't have to pay the 14 greens fee on Sunday, November 11th and Monday, November 12th.

The special offer does not include cart rentals.

Orgill Golf Course at 9080 Bethuel Road is the only public golf course managed by Shelby County Government.

The course opens at 7 a.m. and closes at dusk.
