Benefit golf tourney planned

The Affiliate Council of the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® and the Associate Council of the Memphis Area Home Builders Association are acting as hosts for a benefit golf tournament on Tuesday, September 20, at the renowned Mirimichi Golf Club in Millington.

A portion of the proceeds from the First Annual MAAR/MAHBA Mirimichi Invitational Golf Tournament will benefit the MAAR Benevolent Fund and MAHBA’s Home Builders Care.

Starting times for the four-man scramble tournament are at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A single entry fee is $150 and a four-man team fee is $600. Enter, or sign up for sponsorships, at www.maar-mahbagolf.com. The $33,000 total prize package includes $1,000 for the team with the lowest gross overall score and a possible $10,000 for a hole-in-one.

Jennifer Jordan, Mirimichi's lead golf instructor, will hold Saturday golf clinics for the ladies.  The clinics will be held from September 10th through October 22nd.

The cost is $35 per Saturday.  Following the clinic, participants will be treated to complimentary wine and snacks, as well as a round on Little Mirimichi.

Space is limited to 15 people and early registration is recommended.

Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Lionel Hollins invites you to join him at Winchester Bowl Saturday, August 20 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for his "Bowling for Backpacks" program.

You're invited to bowl as individuals or a team. The cost is $75 per person or $300 per team.

The proceeds will benefit under-priviledged children in the Memphis community. You're also welcome to just sit back and watch the action, but please bring school supplies with you.

The event is hosted by Downtown Jackson Brown of Soul Classics 103.5.

It's time to register for Memphis' new Dragon Boat Festival.

Interested companies and community groups have less than a month to field a team in the Inaugural Duncan-Williams Dragon Boat Festival in Memphis, benefiting the Tennessee Clean Water Network.

Upward Flag Football is coming to Ellendale Baptist Church with practices beginning August 27, 2011. Upward Sports is the world's largest Christian sports league for children and provides the BEST sports experience for every child. Upward Sports teaches sport fundamentals in an environment of healthy competition, helping kids to develop skills for the sports arena and values for life. Ellendale Baptist Church offers flag football for boys ages 1st grade through 6th grade. With weekly practices and games limited to one-hour each, this league is family-friendly and fun for everyone!
