Grizzlies announce summer basketball camps

The Memphis Grizzlies, in conjunction with the National Basketball Academy, will host their annual Grizzlies Summer Hoops Camp Series at several locations in Memphis and the Mid-South during the upcoming months.

The camps are open for boys and girls ages 7-16, and will give these basketball enthusiasts of all skill levels and experience the chance to learn the game from the ground up.  From the art of the jumper to the beauty of text-book passing and defensive footwork, experienced instructors will be on hand to share their knowledge and love of the game during sessions that focus on improvement both for the individual and in the team setting. 

Time to Register for the St. Jude Marathon or Half-Marathon

Registration is now open for the 2011 St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend races to be held Saturday, Dec. 3.

Participants can register online at www.stjudemarathon.org for any of the four races: St. Jude Memphis Marathon, St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon, the Memphis Grizzlies House 5K and the St. Jude Memphis Family Race and Kids Marathon.

Hundreds of Memphis Grizzlies fans lined up outside FedExForum this morning to get their hands on tickets for game 6 of the NBA Playoffs.  Tickets sold out in five minutes, the fastest in franchise history.   The team leads the series with San Antonio 3-2.  If the team wins Friday night at FedExForum, they will win the series. 

Golf tournament moved from Millington

Thursday’s Comcast golf tournament benefitting Hope House Day Care has been moved to a golf course in Drummonds, Tenn., called Forest Hills.

The Mirimichi golf course and club house have flooded.

The team is opening up the FedEx Forum tomorrow night and they're hoping thousands of fans will show up to cheer the Grizzlies to a 2nd play-off win.

Pound the pavement in Navy’s 10 nautical mile race

You can test your mettle and maybe your math skills by running in the Navy Ten Nautical Miler later this summer.

What’s a nautical mile? Well, for starters, it’s longer than a regular mile. A nautical mile equals 1.151 miles (1.50779 miles, to be exact). So, it’s really an 11 and a half mile course.

Dubbed as a lucky charm for him during their C-USA and NCAA tournament runs, the University of Memphis head basketball coach, Josh Pastner has donated his Fireworks of Hope tie to help raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

He autographed the tie, “This tie was our good luck charm. Go Tigers!”
