Former NFL star to speak at local fundraiser

A former New York Giants Pro Bowl defensive back is heading to the Bluff City.  Jason Sehorn will be the guest speaker at the Spring Fundraising Banquet for the Memphis Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes slated for Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilton Memphis.

While many will remember Sehorn as a standout football player, others will remember him for his marriage proposal to actress Angie Harmon during a taping of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Kicking it against cancer

If you're looking to get out before the end of the weekend and enjoy some mild temperatures, you can join in for a special event.

The inaugural Kick It 5K, benefitting the Herb Kosten Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, at Shelby Farms. 

The Kosten Foundation is a collaborative effort between the Herb Kosten Family and the University of Tennessee, Memphis.    According to the American Cancer Society, the five year survival rate for all stages of pancreatic cancer is just five percent.

Pink Eagles soaring with Shelby Sheriff's help

The Pink Eagles are soaring high with a little help from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

The Pink Eagles are a girl's social etiquette leadership development and entrepreneurial training organization.

Yesterday the sheriff's department handed over items from the group's wish list to the Pink Eagles founder and director Loretta McNary who was overwhelmed.

Dust off your dancing shoes! Mid-South residents are invited to a night of adult ballroom dancing.

Singles and couples are welcome to join in on the 23rd event, presented by the Millington Arts and Recreation Department. 

This event will be held on April 19 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. It will take place at the Baker Community Center, located at  7942 Church St.

Grizzlies, cyclists on a roll

Tour de Grizz returns to Memphis on April 2. 

The tour is a joint venture between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Memphis Zoo which lets bicycle enthusiasts take in an afternoon at the Memphis Zoo and an NBA game for a single price with the bonuses of valet bike parking at both venues and a police escort to and from FedExForum.

The group bike ride departs from the zoo at 5:30 to head to FedExForum to see the Grizzlies take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
