The Mid-South is in the dead of winter and many people will need something to keep them warm.
MLGW has teamed up with a local group to help provide heaters and blankets.
"This is our way just to give back to the community," said Neighborhood Christian Center Compassionate Ministries Director Kedra Jones.
For the past three years NCC has teamed up with MLGW to do the "Power of Warmth" program.
The program helps keeps some Shelby County citizens warm during the chilly Memphis winter.
They gave low-income seniors and the physically challenged space heaters and electric blankets.
"I'm very grateful and I thank God for it, you know, 'cause if it wasn't, I don't know, and she said it's going to keep me warm, 'cause it's cold. So I thank God for it and thank the people that doing it," said one program recipient.
To qualify for the program you have to live in Shelby County and be either disabled or a low-income senior at least 60 years old.
The program accepted applications Tuesday.
To apply, applicants will need the following credentials on hand:
- Tennessee State ID or Drivers License to verify age and address.
- The most recent pay stub or Social Security Income statement to verify income.
- If you have a physical disability but do not meet the age requirement, you must bring the proper certification information.
