The people in a deadly crash in West Tennessee were heading to Lane College to drop off two students.

The crash happened on I-40 in Haywood County Tuesday afternoon.

One person was killed and four others were injured in the car accident.

According to police, 21-year-old Denetrice Horton of Millington was driving eastbound on I-40 when she veered off the road and went down a steep embankment causing her car to roll several times.

All five people inside the car were ejected. Horton was killed.

Investigators do believe speed was a factor in the crash and while they are not sure whether anyone was wearing a seat belt, they do believe if they had been, it could have made a difference.
